Truly honored that our paper “On the Expansion of Risk Pooling”, with Runhuan Feng (Tsinghua University) and Seongyoon Kim (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) has been accepted for publication at Management Science. This marks an important personal milestone in my academic journey.

Our work studies the effect of a pool’s expansion on each existing member’s welfare. We establish two notions of consensus: the strong one, where both existing members and new candidates improve their risk measures due to the pool’s expansion; and the weak consensus, which refers to the willingness of the existing members to remain in the pool.

​The established framework offers valuable managerial insights and policy implications, which we illustrate through two indicative risk-sharing case studies.

Together with my colleague and friend Steven Vanduffel (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), we are organizing the second edition of the international conference “Developments in Pension Design and Investment Modelling”, which will take place in Andros on September 10–11, 2025.
