Since 2012 I have been a faculty member of the Department of Banking and Financial Management at the University of Piraeus, where I was promoted to Associate Professor in 2023. In September 2025, I was appointed director of the Postgraduate Program in Finance and Banking, having previously served for six years as director of the Department’s Doctoral Program.

My professional involvement in the field of investments began in 2015, when I started as a consultant to an Occupational Pension Fund. Since then, I have served as chair or member of investment committees in nine Pension Funds, with a primary responsibility for shaping their investment strategies across portfolios with a combined value exceeding €1 billion. In parallel, I have authored consulting studies and delivered training seminars on topics such as asset–liability management (ALM), life-cycle investment strategy design, and investment risk measurement and management.
Investments
My research interests lie in the areas of optimal investment policy for pension funds, risk management, and the pricing and use of derivative securities. Between March 2022 and May 2025, I was awarded a research grant by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK) for the project “Valuation and Optimal Investments of Pension Plans”. My academic work has been published in all leading journals in Financial Mathematics as well as in high-impact journals of broader interest, including Management Science, Journal of Economic Theory, and Review of Finance.

I hold a Ph.D. the University of Texas at Austin (2008), an M.A. from Columbia University (2003), and a B.Sc. in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Piraeus (2002).
